Fode "Marseille" Youla - djembe master
Fode Youla was born in Guinea, of Baga descent. He knew the traditional Baga rhythms and also learned the rhythms of other cultures of Guinea and Sierra Leone in Conakry. He played djembe, dunun and gongoma as well as other percussion instruments.
Fode was one of the original members of Les Ballets Africains. During his tours he moved to France and became known as "Fode Marseille".
Fode Youla had a number of music groups and appears in the documentary: "Music of Guinea". He formed the group Africa Djole and recorded three albums with them.
