Hi guys,
I'm looking to do a project here in ireland connecting the Africans living here with people playing traditional music. There are very few malians/guineas in ireland. Approx 50% of africans here are from Nigeria. So far i've only encountered them through afrobeat and gospel music.
I know the yoruba use bata and talking drums, but this is obviously a whole different ball game to me as a djembe player. Does anyone know anything about ashiko. Varying accounts say they are an import from other african countries.
Has anyone come across anything academic on the subject.
Thanks
Paul
